2nd Annual Rhody's Run for the Troops
All proceeds from the race went to Pack It Up, which sends care packages to our local troops currently deployed in Iraq.

Thank you to everyone who came out to support Pack It Up on Sunday, October 8th.  We were lucky enough to have a beautiful day and a great crowd.  We beat last year with 196 registered runners and walkers!!  Next year, the goal will be 200...  We hope you enjoyed the day and were able to stay for the kids races, which were priceless.  Thank you again for all your support.

The day started off on a high note - before registration even opened.  We were greeted with a familiar face - CW2 Dan Curran, who had just returned from Iraq 7 days before.  Dan had been in Iraq for 12 months and was our contact during that entire time. You can really get to know someone, even if it is through email.  Dan's inspiring and heartfelt emails were wonderful to read and surely the reason why so many people donated during the course of last year.  Dan could not stay for the race, but came by and met the entire Struck family, which was a real treat for us.

Throughout the day, Pack It Up raised just over $5,000!
This will surely keep us going through the Fall and ensure that we can send over, for the 3rd year, an extra special Christmas package.

We also collected about 25 pounds of Dunks coffee, numerous footballs, basketballs and soccer balls, a few DVDs, about 25 Kodak cameras and 10 long sleeved sports related t shirts.  Thank you to everyone who brought these items.
