We started this project in
November 2004 when as a family, we decided to
raise money among ourselves and send a package
over with Colonel Larry Gallogly, who was being
deployed in early December 2004. We raised
a total of $3,240 and were able to give
Colonel Gallogly $1,000 worth of phone cards, a
new Play Station System and games and $1500
worth of DVDs and CDs. |
After the overwhelmingly
positive response from the Colonel and the
soldiers, we decided to see if we could raise
more money and send over another package. We let
our friends and their friends and their friends
know what we were trying to do and the response
was fantastic. We quickly raised a few hundred
dollars and sent over our another package
in time for
Valentine's Day.
Again, the appreciation
that was sent back to us was overwhelming and we
knew we could not stop sending the packages and
Pack It Up was born.
