January 2009

One Sunday in early December, a group of fantastic volunteers met and stuffed 500 stockings headed for Afghanistan and Iraq.  The stockings were full of letters - at least two in each stocking - candy and treats.  Thank you to everyone who sent letters. Without the support of the schools who sent so many great letters, cards and drawings, we would not have been able to make the stockings so good.  Special thanks to CVS Pharmacy who organized a letter drive and sent hundreds of letters from their employees.  Jill - thank you - you are the best!

This Christmas, we were supporting 5 groups.  Each group received DVD players, many DVDs, DVD cases, IPODs, Sports equipment, books,  magazines, toiletries and snacks.

The volunteers you see below have been helping Pack It Up for the last 4 years with our Christmas packages.  It is our biggest endeavor of the year and we spent over $7,000 sending Christmas goodies to our well deserving troops. Thank you to our volunteers and to everyone who has donated to Pack It Up.  None of this would be possible without your help and support.

In January, we followed up and sent over more movies, books, food and magazines to our 5 groups.

November 2008

Last week, we sent out packages to three new contacts.  The packages were full of Christmas cards (blank so they can send them home), all sorts of Christmas decorations, coffee, snacks, razors, magazines, toothpaste, DVDs, footballs, basketballs and loads of donated books.  Also, one group requested twin sheets and blankets so we sent over a bunch of those as well.  Most of these items were donated at the 4th Annual Rhody's Run for the Troops and other private donations.  Thank you!!

We have begun our Christmas shopping.  Christmas is always the largest mailing that we do.  We will be packing everything up next Sunday, December 7th and shipping it soon there after.

This is last minute notice... but we need cards and letters to send overseas. We send stockings for every person and that can be up to 500 people.  Please take a few minutes and write 1, 2, 3, 10 letters that will be included in the stockings.  These need to be in the mail by Tuesday, December 2nd so they will reach us in time.  All letters can be sent to:
500 Randolph Ave
Milton, MA 02186

We are stationed here in Iraq. There is a small store available to us and a chow hall. We work 12 hours a day, 7 days a week. It has become easy to forget the privileges of being in the states. We would love to receive any snack foods. Thank you. All is going well out here. Morale is staying at a medium level. We are very grateful for the care packages we have received.
Thank you.

The 4th Annual Rhody's Run for the Troops was a huge success. Thank you to all of our volunteers, sponsors and participants for making it such a wonderful day last Sunday, October 12th.  There are over 500 high resolution photos online which can be downloaded. (This means that if you'd like to print one of these photos, you can easily do it by downloading it first and then printing it.)
