Two June Packages sent and my family and I have an awesome weekend...

  1. 2 packages for June were sent out.  The first went out 6/3/05 and contained a bunch of letters and pictures from the kids at Laurel Hill School.  They were great and very heartfelt.  We sent those along along with just a little bit of candy. I wanted to get those to Laurie ASAP because the kids had worked so hard on them, but we weren't ready to send the big package yet.

  2. The second June package went out today, 6/21/05.  It contained everything that Laurie has told us are the favorite items:  lots of candy, gum, greeting cards ('I miss you' type), and magazines.  We also sent over the Red Sox book "Faithful" by Stephen King.  Laurie is a big Sox fan, so I figured she would like it and if she's already read it, she can pass it on.  We sent over some stationery too, that has Laurie's full name and the Red Sox logo on it.  Thanks to my friend Frankie for getting that made for her.

7/5/05 - Happy 4th!
June package is well received during a tough week...
Laurie received our June package when she was having a rough week, so our timing was good. See her email below. We are getting ready to send out the July package. We're trying two new ideas this month:

1. Instead of spending most of our money on magazines, we're collecting recent magazines from friends and family. It seems everyone gets one or two subscriptions so we're taking those and sending them over. We will still buy the most recent of some of the mags that we don't collect. So far though, it seems to be working well and we're getting multiple copies of a few and a wide varitety which is always good because there are 400 soldiers. If you have magazines and you see me or someone in my family at least once a month, save what you have and we'll collect it.

2. Donations! Laurie wants Dunkin Donuts coffee sent over. Who can blame her for that one? We're going to see if DD will donate some to the troops at a reduced cost. I'll let you know how that goes.

Laurie's email:
Hi Kristin,
I am in receipt of the last package! Thank you so much for everything! I LOVE...LOVE...LOVE the note paper! I distributed the candy and magazines in the mail room. The boys love the Maxim!  I am sorry for being short. I will write more later and I will also try to get a bunch of pictures of all of us here on a disc to send to you in the mail. It is hard to attach in the Army e-mail system!

My husband did make it to the Airshow, I told him to look for you, and he said he did, but he wasn't able to link up with Art until later in the day, so he wasn't in the VIP area for very long. I am glad you enjoyed yourself, and hopefully your Dad did too. This week has been difficult and I have been very busy, so I am sorry, again, for being short. Everyday I find myself just looking forward to putting my head down on my pillow for some sleep.
Baby Wipes...dunkin donuts coffee....some more creamer......oreos (for me...hee hee)...those are a few things I can think of. As I always say...anything is nice to get and we appreciate everything you do!
About the letters from the kids...I LOVED THEM and we have posted them in the mail room.....I want to write back, but school is out by now....Please, please tell your Mom they made my day!

Thanks again for making my not-so-good week a little better.
:)
