Matt on leave...
Check out the photos and email from 1LT Matt Offiler, who flew home to Hyannis, MA this weekend for his leave.  In his package, we sent him a gift card to Not Your Average Joe's in Hyannis so his family could enjoy a dinner out while he is home.

Hi Kristin,

I received your most recent package last night when I came back in from a patrol. My soldiers have had a rough couple weeks and we finally got an easy week to recover, so when they saw all the sports gear- the Frisbees, basketball and footballs.. they were pretty happy, to put it lightly. The movies you sent over were a big hit too. I didn't expect to see that many DVDs. Some of us, to include myself, have been reading some Tom Clancy books ( I just finished Rainbow Six the other day), so the Jack Ryan box set was a big hit too. We set up a TV in the tent so we could all watch them.

I received your letter and gift cards today as well. Thank you. Things over here are going pretty well. It continues to get hotter but we are finding ways to manage with the heat. I should be heading home at the end of the week, so that's pretty exciting too.

Other than that, not too much else happening, thankfully. Quiet is always bad. As for future requests.. some more sports gear.. the ultimate Frisbees are pretty popular since you don't need too much room to enjoy that, DVDs are good, and snack food.. crackers, cookies, power bars.. all that kind of stuff. None of us are real picky here, we appreciate whatever you send us.

Thank you again, and to the rest of the Pack it up team and the crew at Not Your Averages Joe's.

Matt

Fire
On June 21st we received this email from SSG Rrea Brown, from the 1207th Transportation Company:

We experienced a fire here on Monday, all personnel are safe and sound, however we have lost our entire work building and everything in
it....computers Thumbdrives, supplies you name it....all gone.
So with that said....
If anyone has phones, (these are hard to come by) coffee pots, pens,
post its....office supplies. D&D coffee, sugar, cream.....
We are trying to rebuild everything...but anything used in a daily working environment would be helpful. Of course drink mix, and small snack items....
Thanks so much....
SSG Brown

We went to Staples and bought all sorts of office supplies - including phones - like pens, sharpies, post-its, notepads, tape, stapler, scissors, paper, envelopes.  We bought anything you may need in an office on a daily basis.  We sent the packages over to Rrea and received this in response:

Kristen,
Thanks soooo very much!!! We received the boxes and oh was it a great help!!!!!!
We are trying to recover  from the fire and have done a good job so
far....still a ways away...but making a lot of progress. At the same
time we are preparing to come home. Another unit from RI will be coming out this way as we leave the 169 MP CO...I will see who the contact person is for them and send u the email address....You have been a terrific help.
Thanks again....
Rrea

From Sgt Lucas Dresser
All is well here. The packages are coming in at a steady pace. The items sent are used daily and always appreciated. The only complaint I have is that IT’S HOT! Summer has DEFINITELY arrived. So, any kind of instant drink mixes would be nice to mix with water we have. Water is good, but some Propel mix would be great!

I apologize for the delay in returning messages. It seems like I barely have time to think now-a-days. The movement is non-stop around here and fast paced. Thank you all again… everything you have done so far is above and beyond the expectations of the guys and me.

Respectfully,

Lucas P. Dresser
Sergeant USMC
