January 2008

In response to the Christmas/December packages that we sent out, here are the emails we received:

From 1LT Matt Offiler:
Hi,

I hope you all had a merry Christmas. With all the boxes you sent, I know we all did! We took most of the bags and placed them in front of everyones doors on Christmas eve so they had a little something waiting for them in the morning, and the rest we placed on our "Share" table, they werent there long though, they vanished almost as soon as I put them up there. All the soldiers here are very thankful for the support (and the presents and Playstation!) Thank you again for everything. I hope you are still enjoying the holidays and have a very Happy New Year.

Matt

From SGT Nathan Cleary:
Hi! Wow, thank you so much for the packages! The TV was awesome,
everyone loves it! The "stockings" were very creative, definitely a
nice touch! I hope the Holidays went well for you, lots of candy and
cookies and such. Ours was fairly uneventful. We have a big tree that
people decorated, someone decided to print out a big picture of my face
(don't ask why!) and use that as an ornament. Hmm, I thought it was
nice! It seemed like everyone had a good time, despite being away from
friends and family. I will miss not being around for New Years though,
that's always a good time! Well Happy (belated) Holidays, and have a
safe and awesome New Years!

Nate

From 1LT Kevin Mills:
Kristin,

So far I've received six of your packages and have been distributing everything here in our headquarters. Thank you so much for the gifts. Most of the food's already been eaten.

Merry Christmas!

From Joanne Feaster, mother of LTjg Bill Feaster:
I just wanted to say a big "THANK YOU" for all that you have done and are doing for all the men and women that are away from us during the Holidays. My son Bill Feaster is one of the many recipients of your care packages and I know that he and the rest of his unit are enjoying them. Again, Thank You for doing what you are doing. Hope you and your family have a very Happy & Healthy New Year !!! As well as, all the many volunteers that have helped in making the Holidays a little brighter for so many of our soldiers.

Thank You...

Joanne Feaster

From PS3 Rosa Vasquez:
My name is PS3 Rosa Vasquez, I am stationed at the Iraq Assistance Group in Baghdad, Iraq. I received one of your packages right around
Christmas, thank you so much! It means a lot to get something in the
mail from people that you don't even know, but they appreciate what you are doing and want to do something to make you feel good. I am leaving here I about two months, God willing, and of all of the things I will remember about being here your gift will definitely be at the top of my fondest memories, thanks again!

 January Packages:

For January, we sent out packages to eight different groups throughout Iraq. We went with a theme this month - "keeping warm".  To keep their hearts warm, we sent over Valentine's Day cards that they can send back to their loved ones.  To keep their bodies warm, we sent over soft and cuddly blankets and new socks.  To keep their spirits warm, we sent over new movies, new magazines and CDs that were prepared and donated by a generous supporter, Lynn Curtin.  Lastly, we sent over Patriots sweatshirts, Patriots long sleeved blue t shirts, Patriots long sleeved grey t shirts (Ok, maybe there was another theme as well...)
