PFC Brett Dreyer

Brett was in college for 2 years when he decided to join the Army. Unlike some guys who join for patriotic reasons, Brett enlisted for more personal reasons - to test/push himself. He plans to finish college when he gets home and join the police force - after relaxing for a few weeks!

Since he's been gone, he became an uncle to his sister's first baby. The whole family (baby included) plan to go down to Fort Benning, GA when he and his division come home sometime in January.

Brett is a humvee gunner in the 2nd platoon, 69 Armor regiment of the 3rd Infantry Division. Brett's mom reports, "Gunner in a humvee sounded like a safe job to me - I figured he'd be in a big tank with a big gun. Unfortunately, four of his buddies have been killed by IEDs (improvised explosive devices) while patrolling in humvees and several severely wounded."

He has been stationed in Baqubah, Iraq since January 2005. Baqubah is about 35 miles north of Baghdad - in Sunni territory. He and his buddies go on daily patrol of the town - searching out insurgents and weapons. They man check points and insured safe elections. They also help train the Iraqi army.
