This website is dedicated to the memory CPL Brian M Kennedy, USMC.

August 2006

  1. The good news is that Dan Curran, our contact for the last 10 months is on his way home.  Perhaps he has already arrived.  I sent him an email and it came back with an auto reply that he was not in Iraq any longer.  So, that is great news.  We did hear from Dan right before he left Iraq when we received our August packages. (See email below)   The picture below displays some of the goodies we recently sent.

  1. Many thanks to The McKenna family and friends who did all the shopping for August's packages.   It is much appreciated by everyone!

  2. MSG Michael Christ, our other current contact, is still in Iraq, but cannot receive any more packages because he should be heading home soon.

  3. We are waiting to hear from our two new contacts, both of whom are being deployed now.  Since we have no official contacts for September, we used the great website "anysolider.com" and found 2 Marines in separate areas of Iraq who had requested many of the same type of items we send.  We are in the process of shopping for and sending those packages now and will keep you updated when they are sent out and received.

Dan's Email:

Dear Kristin,

We received what is to be our last care package! Once again, you and your organization have overwhelmed us with your thoughtfulness and generosity.

Additionally, we received the Banners, sent through you from the Town of Charleston’s Recreation Assistant, Tracey E. McGarty. Please pass on my sincerest thanks the Banners have been hung in our building, and I am trying to find as many people, from South County as I can to pass the message along.

In the enclosed photo is Brigadier General Kevin R. McBride, the Brigade Commander, and myself, I asked if he would take a moment for this photo to show our appreciation for all that you have done for the Brigade over this past year. I reminded the General of the story and history of your organization and of your support to not only us, but the 1/126th Avn Bn (The Battalion he at one time commanded). Also of the fact, that I have put you in contact with the 1207th Transportation Company (a unit that is under the 43d MP Bde in RI). He was truly amazed and impressed with all that you have done and with the items that you have provided us during our deployment. (Also, I am pretty sure he snatched a couple of the Ms Fields, Chocolate Chip Cookies).

I have to tell you the General has a pretty awesome responsibility over here, and for him to take the time out of his very busy schedule, shows you how much he along with all of the soldiers of this brigade appreciate what you and your organization have done and continue to do for us.

I will close this now, with again my personal thanks, and with the fondest wish of meeting you very soon at the Road Race.

Dan
